This week the Oceanside Police Department welcomed the first class of five Community Services Officers (CSO) class that has joined OPD through the Measure X-funded CSO program.
The newly expanded CSO program is among many public safety improvements moving forward in Oceanside, made possible by the revenue from Measure X. This exciting new program is designed to promote each CSO's personal and professional development.
Community Services Officers hired for this limited-term position will assist in various non-sworn responsibilities and assist police by responding to and investigating lower-priority service calls. This allows police to remain available to answer emergency calls and provide more time for proactive enforcement while providing the CSO valuable experience that will help prepare them for many public service roles.
