El Corazon Park Site 1 Online Public Meeting

Join the online meeting September 19, 2022, at 6pm

El Corazon (The Heart, in Spanish) is a City-owned parcel of 465 acres located in the center of Oceanside, bounded by Rancho Del Oro Drive on the east, Oceanside Boulevard on the south, El Camino Real on the west, and Mesa Drive on the north.

An ongoing planning process that began in 2003 was facilitated by dedicated citizens' committees. Through their work, the El Corazon Specific Plan was developed to guide the land use decisions created through public outreach and master planning efforts. The El Corazon Specific Plan governs development of the property and the areas set aside for public versus private uses are clearly delineated in this plan.

The El Corazon Specific Plan divides the property into six districts. For each district, the Specific Plan details a particular vision for future development with standards, customized allowable usages, and design guidelines that support the scale and character of the district. The six districts are shown on this illustration.

In February 2022, the Oceanside City Council approved an agreement with Schmidt Design Group to design El Corazon’s Park Site 1. Park Site 1 will be a 17-acre public park near the northwestern corner of Rancho Del Oro and El Corazon Drive.  Community input is requested at an online meeting September 19, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. to ensure this new park will meet your recreational needs. Your input will be incororated into concept plans which will be presented at the next meeting for public review.
