The Oceanside Public Library has temporarily closed all facilities until further notice. This includes the Civic Center Library, Mission Branch Library, Oceanside READS Learning Center and both Bookmobiles. As announced previously, all events sponsored by the Library, at these locations or elsewhere, are also suspended until at least April 1, in line with the City’s responses to the situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus). The Library arrived at this decision with the health and well-being of the public and its staff foremost in mind. Visit https://www.ci.oceanside.ca.us/gov/fire/home/coronavirus.asp for more COVID-19 related information from the City.
All due dates will be extended until the Library reopens, and no overdue fees will accrue during the closure. For those who would like to drop off materials, book drops are still being attended to regularly at Civic Center and Mission Branch Libraries. Note, however, that donations of books, DVDs and the like are not currently being accepted. The Library is currently working out a process to make items placed on Hold availabe during the closure. Check back soon for more information.
Oceanside Public Library staff strongly encourage the public to visit www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org to discover all the Library resources online. Staff will be available to offer help by phone at 760-435-5600 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or email public.library@ci.oceanside.ca.us with questions.
Individuals and families at home can take advantage of many free learning and recreational opportunities through the Library website, or by downloading special Library apps (click on Library Services and choose “eBooks & eMedia” or “Electronic Resources”):
During the closure, Library staff will keep working hard behind the scenes on tasks with books and special projects, so each location will be better prepared to welcome back their communities when buildings reopen. The Oceanside Public Library is grateful to Oceanside and its surrounding communities for their continued support in keeping their public libraries safe and welcoming.
