Household Hazardous Waste

Household Hazardous Waste Services for Residents

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and/or universal waste includes items that are toxic, corrosive or reactive, and cannot be disposed in any residential cart or commercial bin. Oceanside residents can drop off their household hazardous waste twice a month by appointment only on Saturdays at Waste Management’s HHW Facility located at 2880 Industry Street by calling the Customer Service Line at (760) 439-2824. Proof of residency is required.

HHW appointments are needed to dispose of the following items: fluorescent light tubes, chemicals (pool and others), household cleaners, pesticides, majority of over-the-counter and prescription medications (excluding controlled substances), and paint.

Some items can be dropped off at the HHW Facility without an appointment and during hours of operation. These items include: sharps waste (syringes or lancets) properly packaged for safe disposal, (used) motor oil, filters and antifreeze.
