Be Disposable-Free, Oceanside!
Background of Zero Waste in Oceanside
The City of Oceanside is committed to waste diversion and recycling. Through this commitment, the City of Oceanside passed a Zero Waste Strategic Resource Management Plan in June of 2012. The Zero Waste Plan has allowed the City to implement programs and provide resources to the community and increase our overall diversion rate. On March 17, 2021, the City of Oceanside passed the 2020 Zero Waste Plan, continuing its goal of reaching zero waste and planning for the next year of environmental programs and resources.
Marine Debris Reduction Resolution
On August 4, 2021, Oceanside City Council approve and adopted the Marine Debris Reduction Resolution. The Resolution promotes the use of more sustainable alternatives that are compostable, recyclable, or reusable. It also guides City staff to provide support through education and technical assistance to businesses to assist with the reduction of single-use polystyrene and single-use plastic products while working with community stakeholders and business associations to increase education and awareness of the issues around single-use plastics.
