Recent Update (08-29-2022): Today starts Week No. 5 for the construction of Fire Station No. 1 with Cox Construction Co. as the general contractor. Site activities scheduled for this week include finishing the abatement of ACMs (asbestos containing materials ) in preparation for demolition of the existing facilities on site. The Contractor has mobilized a small office trailer for use; it arrived on site this morning. During the month of September we fully expect the start and completion of demolition to occur according to the proposed construction schedule. The Contractor will be bringing in excavators to “claw” down the existing structures in a controlled manner which is the most common demolition method used for low -rise structures such as those on our site. Once removed, the address of 602 Civic Center Drive will cease to exist. The new address of the site will be known as 410 North Freeman Street. City planners assisted with the change of address for the parcel and are now working to ensure the change is properly recorded with the County Assessor’s Office.
